About George – Founder, Optimal Fitness and Swimming
At Optimal Fitness and Swimming, my mission is simple: to empower every individual who steps into my care to become stronger, more confident, and more capable than they ever thought possible. Helping people unlock their full potential—whether in the water, the gym, or life—is not just my profession; it is my passion.
My name is George, and my coaching philosophy is built upon a rigorous academic foundation. I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Sport Science, which have given me a deep understanding of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor learning—knowledge I apply daily to design programmes that are as intelligent as they are effective.
To ensure my clients receive the highest standard of evidence-based training, I have pursued the industry's most respected certifications. I am an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer, a proud member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and hold a USA Weightlifting Level 1 coaching certificate to refine explosive power and technical lifting proficiency. I am also a qualified rowing coach through World Rowing (FISA), enabling me to deliver specialist conditioning for both on-water and ergometer performance.
On the aquatic side, I am a USA Age Group Swimming certified coach and a Birthlight Baby Swim instructor, credentials that allow me to work safely and effectively with swimmers at every life stage—from a child's first experience of water through to elite-age group competition.
With over 15 years of hands-on coaching experience across fitness, swimming, rowing, and strength sports, I have had the privilege of guiding athletes and enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. My ultimate aim is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge sports science and practical, accessible training—so that whether you are striving for a podium finish, learning to swim, or building lasting strength and vitality, you have the expert guidance and unwavering support you need to succeed.
